Hi everyone,

Welcome to a new year, well I am a bit late, but better late than never.

Gosh this year has started off with a gallop...my feet have hit the ground running that is for sure!
January saw us start the year with a 2 day horsemanship and 1 day mechanical cow with master horseman Ian Francis. Far out is all I can say, thanks to Ian’s brilliant tuition I experienced the best collected canter that I have ever ridden on my horse Matey, I sure hope I can get to feel more of that! Weightless in my hands, fully engaged hindquarters...gosh it felt good  I was so pleased with both Matey and Lace and while the journey is long, it felt so nice to realise that things are all starting to come together.

Danny rode with David Stuart at Armidale and I got the pleasure of watching. I get to ride with David in March, and after watching the group progress over the weekend with lots of dressage moves, I am really looking forward to my time with David.

I also had another fun weekend with Dean Holden working on getting my mare ready for competing in Cutting. I am having so much fun learning the sport of Cutting and also teaching my mare, it isn’t easy, but boy is it fun! Lace is really starting to put in some neat moves now, and I love it when we are both as one holding that cow...gosh it is such an adrenaline rush . It has also been great for me to get out and muster with Dean and some of the other ladies, has pushed me outside my comfort zone. Great for Lace to learn to travel and sometimes be with other horses and sometimes be out on our own, am super proud of her she has come a long way from the horse I started riding just over 2 years ago. Will let you know how I go in our comps...like I tell my friends, just turning up is a big deal.

My horses Matey and Laddie were the horses used for an Equine Assisted Therapy Demo at Newcastle Showground before Christmas, that went really well and hopefully this year they will be able to be of assistance in some Equine Assisted Therapy sessions. If I had more time I would love to do more with the EAT program, but for now just doing little bits here and there will have to do.

Thanks to the wonderful Louise we have another great issue of Neva Say Neva. I couldn’t get it done without Louise, thanks heaps Louise for all the wonderful work you do. Louise and her sister Jen are starting to run some courses, Women under a Blue Moon. To read more about these workshops click here- http://horsedesign.com.au/bluemoon/

Well I hope you have been like me and hit the ground galloping :)
Keep on having fun with your beautiful horses.

Cheers
Lee
